FRONTA renowned Tyneside Indian restaurant has just re-launched – in a new location and with the second generation of a family dynasty at the helm.

The Last Days of The Raj at Low Fell was a favourite eatery for scores of diners from across the region until it closed in 2012.

Set up originally by Athair Khan, he has now passed on his expertise to son Imran who will be heading up the new incarnation of the restaurant, this time in the former Bay Horse pub at Main Street, Dinnington .

“My father created a fantastic restaurant which was very popular and now I’m hoping to do the same and of course he will still be involved to offer his expertise.

“We are offering many of the favourite dishes that we were renowned for but with a lot of new and exciting choices which we are sure will be a huge hit with our diners.”

The new venue has 68 seats and has a take away service.

“It’s very exciting for us to be open again,” said Mr Khan.

“We’ve had lots of positive response from people who have heard about the new restaurant and we’re looking forward to seeing all of our old clients – and of course many new ones.”
